Safety Disclaimer

What Norte can and cannot do.

Last updated: 2026-08-26

What Norte is

Norte is a calm self-help companion designed to support autistic and neurodivergent people during overload.

Norte offers gentle guidance, breathing and grounding prompts, written guides, and an Overload Translator that can help put a difficult moment into clearer words.

What Norte is not

Norte is not a substitute for professional care or emergency services.

Norte is not medical care, therapy, counselling, coaching, diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, financial advice, employment advice, workplace advice, or emergency support.

Norte does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure autism, autistic burnout, anxiety, meltdown, shutdown, overload, or any medical or mental health condition.

Norte is not designed for active crisis, urgent danger, or situations where you or someone else may be at immediate risk.

If you are unsafe or in urgent danger

If you feel unsafe, are in urgent danger, or may hurt yourself or someone else, stop using Norte and contact emergency services in your country or region immediately.

Use the emergency number or crisis service available where you are.

If you are unsure what to do, contacting a trusted person, such as a friend, family member, colleague, or support worker, can be a good first step if they can help you find urgent support.

Norte does not replace emergency services and cannot respond to urgent danger.

Age

Norte V1 is intended for people aged 16 and over.

If you are under 16, do not use Norte.

If you are young and distressed, speak to a trusted adult. If the situation is urgent or unsafe, contact emergency services where you are.

Using the Translator carefully

Overload Translator sends the text you enter to a third-party AI service to generate a response.

Treat the Translator like any other AI assistant: useful sometimes, but not perfect.

Do not include your name, other people’s names, addresses, contact details, medical records, clinical or diagnostic information, legal documents, workplace documents, financial information, passwords, codes, security information, or anything you would not feel comfortable sending to an AI service.

Norte itself does not train an AI model on your Translator input or output.

The third-party AI service may process submitted text according to its own policies and operational requirements.

See the Privacy Policy for more detail.

If an AI response feels wrong or upsetting

You do not need to act on anything the AI gives you.

If a response feels wrong, upsetting, unsafe, or unsuitable, close the feature, step away, or ask someone you trust for support.

If you feel unsafe or in urgent danger, follow the urgent safety guidance above.

You can report concerns to hello@norte.care.

Local data

Norte V1 does not save anything you type into the Translator on your device.

Norte V1 may store a few small non-identifying flags or timestamps locally, such as whether you have seen the welcome screen.

You can clear V1 local data in Settings by choosing Clear local data.

See the Privacy Policy for more detail.

A grounding note

You are allowed to need less input.

You are allowed to pause.

You are allowed to use fewer words.

Norte is here to offer a calmer next step, not to judge your reaction.

Changes to this disclaimer

We may update this Safety Disclaimer as Norte evolves.
